I love my journaling – it is connected with my soul searching journey that I am on. Some times I pick a word or phrase that I want to incorporated in my day – this comes from my gut / inner voice. I then look for quotes that will help solidify the feelings that are flowing through me. If I can’t find a quote I always have the option of writing my own or to create a poem. I then draw a picture to tie it all together.
Many people are enjoying the new rage of Adult coloring books and all I can say is GOOD FOR THEM. They are finding out what I have known for years, just how calming, almost meditative coloring can be. It allows that inner child to come out and play. You let go of the mundane world and slip into pure bliss.
My journaling keeps me grounded. It keeps me alert. It helps me sort out the events of the day so I can see clarity to my feelings and reactions. To see lessons I need to learn. It reminds me to always try to color my world with kindness. I love my process.
Boy have I learned things from my yesterdays ….. lessons learned, some huge hurts, and the ability to shrug things off and move on. This is what life is all about.
As Einstein said “The important thing is not to stop questioning”
I could not agree with him more on this piece of advice.
It is quite a process to do the work to find out who you really are – your authentic self. To learn to set great boundaries, and to learn to let things go that are not so good for your overall well being. I was not real good at setting boundaries and at times felt as though I was walking on egg shells trying to keep my balance. Often it’s the deepest pain which empowers you to grow into your highest self. As you do so it opens up space to let the things in that really matter to you. Not what others think should be important to you.
Walt Disney said: We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.”
I have learned to enjoy the journey I am on with all of it’s twist and turns. Some times not so pleasant but needed just the same. Sometimes moments of pure joy like the birth of my grandsons and being allowed to be right there when they blessed this world with their presence.
I have learned to celebrate each moment for it is a gift. With that gift comes the ability to learn, forgive, compassion, love, letting go, understanding, and non-judgement. It’s there, we just have to remember it’s our gift to use.
My journey is not over – I have much to learn, experience, and enjoy for this path that I am on is a lifetime process.
How often do we get stuck in the “things that go wrong stage” and forget to concentrate on all the things that ARE going right. It’s our nature to pay attention to things that go wrong. Lesson learned; things will go wrong and because things do go wrong we can really appreciate all the things that are going right. Polarity; light / dark, good / bad, up / down – you get the picture.
At the end of the day I do Gratitude Journaling so it is important for me to pay attention to the things that are going right. The tiniest things at the end of the day can add up to big gains. It is in the eyes of the beholder and I chose to have eyes that see the beauty, the joy, the things that are going right.
